There’s no doubt about it: technology companies are on the rise and ready for you to join their team! If you ever wondered what it takes to pivot into the Tech Industry, or perhaps you are just excited about the future and desire to learn more, then this webinar is for you and your curious mind. Dive into an interactive “lunch and learn” webinar--Breaking into the Tech Industry--with fellow UF Alumni. Hear from innovative startup leaders and experienced recruiters, who have a shared vision for seizing opportunities and making the impossible possible.

This event is offered in partnership with startGNV and is open to the public. Panelists are not only leaders in their industries, but they are connected to Gainesville as UF alumni and/or employees at Gainesville’s most renowned tech and startup companies.

Samyr Qureshi (Knack)

Samyr Qureshi is the Co-Founder & Chief Executive Officer of Knack, the leading peer tutoring platform for colleges and universities. The company is venture-backed by Jeff Vinik (Tampa Bay Lightning NHL Team Owner), Precursor Ventures, ETS (creators of GRE), ASU Enterprise Partners, and many other well-known investors and educational institutions. Currently based in Tampa, Florida, Samyr previously worked at Gartner as an Account Executive in the Emerging Technology division also formerly served as an iOS Advisor at Apple.

Samyr was born in Abu Dhabi, UAE, and immigrated to the US at the age of seven. Landing in Florida, he grew up in the Tampa Bay area and earned his Bachelor's Degree in Law & Criminology from the University of Florida. Samyr has been featured on Inc.com as a Top 30 Entrepreneur to Watch in 2017, was inducted to the 2020 Class of Forbes 30 Under 30 - Education, named 2020 Emerging Tech Leader of the Year by Tampa Bay Tech, featured in Tampa Bay Magazine’s Top 10 Under 40 for 2021, and was also named as a University of Florida 2021 40 Under 40 Gator Alumni.

Samyr currently resides in Tampa, Florida. When he’s not traveling, he enjoys playing guitar, listening to live music, and spending time outdoors with his dog Koda.

Jillian Dinius (Infotech)

Jillian Dinius is a Senior Talent Specialist at Infotech. She currently focuses on the recruitment and retention of software engineers and also leads the company’s college recruitment efforts.

She loves creating and working with people as the focus. She gets excited about connecting people to the relationships and the resources they need to succeed. She values authenticity and  inclusion and is committed to creating spaces that have those values as a part of the foundation.

Prior to her career in Talent Management, Jillian worked in student development at the college and high school level. Jillian is a double Gator and has been in Gainesville for almost 15 years (which is a long time for a South Florida native)!

Monica Morena (Dataminr)

Monica Moreno is a Talent Acquisition Partner at Dataminr. She makes it her mission to get to know her candidates and their needs so she can provide an exceptional candidate experience. Whether it is giving resume advice, presenting to 150+ women or non-binary computer science students, or interviewing a candidate, she takes pride in providing the best service in an efficient way while always leading with kindness. As a seasoned, accomplished and Latinx career coach/recruiter, she enjoys helping those find a good cultural fit or their career passions.

Monica holds a Bachelor’s degree in Advertising from the University of Florida and a Master’s in Education, Conflict Resolution, and Organizational Development from Nova Southeastern University.
